The prizegiving ceremony will be held at 2100 tonight at the stage in the park - walk back towards the goal until you reach the really big road that goes across Ave -Minas Gerais and, on the right, you will see the stage in a sunken area.

Everyone is now on a vehicle - it looks like we had 88 in goal today - its quite a long ride back from this goal field so the results will be a while but the news will be here as soon as they're done

So here we are on day 7 - the weather today looks better than the last couple of days and the pilots are all on the way up the hill. As soon as we have any task details they will be here.

Meanwhile we have made some exciting changes to the way the live trackers now work. The tracker can now perform the Report Back for the pilot when they land and also receive a confirmation that the message has been received. They can also be used to report flying conditions without needing to use the radio - ie Level 1,2 or 3 and to ask for assistance. Task sending and reception have been improved and the units also now support the conical end of speed section. There is more coming so keep watching.

Day 2 is here and the day is looking very nice. We will have to work hard to beat yeasterday (110 in goal) but this is a SuperFinal so we will do our best. The pilots are all on the way to take-off and we should have news of a task in about an hour.

We spent the evening working on the live tracking problems which were happening yesterday and we think we found the main cause - hopefully the whole system will be much more stable today (but we will only know once they start...)

We have a whole new tracking system and a sudden change of venue so its been busy here in HQ for the last couple of days. The training task went very well yesterday but, for now, it has been decided that the 'conical end of speed section' still needs some work and, therefore, will not be used in this competition.

Meanwhile, day 1 is here and the 2013 Paragliding World Cup SuperFinal is under way - the weather is looking good this morning and the vehicles are all on the way to takeoff. As soon as we have news of a task it will be posted here.

The new tracking system has some excellent improvements but we expect some initial problems so please bear with us...

The Paragliding World Cup team has arrived in Governador Valadares for the 2013 SuperFinal and things are looking good.

We have a fantastic weather forecast, a very strong local organisation working with us and a brand new Live Tracking system to bring even more accuracy to the presetation of our events.

There will be a training day tomorrow with a real task being set - no Live Tracking though and a limited retrieve - and registration will be held in HQ in the Realminas Hotel (2nd Floor) from 1700 to 2000. Our first task will commence on Wednesday 15th January and we are looking forward to an excellent SuperFinal.

We are pleased to announce that we have received, and accepted, a bid from the town of Governador Valadares to run the Super Final on the originally planned dates. With a promising forecast and good flying conditions already in the area, we expect to run a good quality competition.

We are working to research and implement efficient transfers from Vitoria to Valadares, and we will keep you informed. Please check carefully with your airline if you wish to modify a booked itinerary in any way (including not using the domestic transfer from Rio to Vitoria, for example) as this might invalidate your booking.

Over the last few weeks, Baixo Guandu has been subjected to the worst flooding since records began. All roads leading into the town have been cut, tens of thousands of homes and businesses are underwater and many people have lost their lives. All our thoughts are with the people of Baixo Guandu and the surrounding area as they struggle to recover from this catastrophe.

As details of the disaster have emerged, it has become almost certain that it will not be possible to run the Super Final as originally planned, and it has become necessary to decide how to proceed.

With at least one option now available to us, we have decided that it should be possible to run the Super Final in a location in Brazil on the same dates. If necessary the competition will be shortened to allow local transfers. We understand that doing this may create considerable difficulties, but we also understand that pilots already have (mostly non-refundable) flight tickets and vacations already booked. It’s possible that some non-essential services may be missing from the competition, but we do not anticipate requiring any supplement to the entry fees.

There remains a lot of work to be done to finalise things. We will keep you informed as soon as there is more concrete information.
